Ukraine’s Deep-Strike Campaign Brings the Russia War Closer to Moscow
Ukraine Launches Massive Drone Assault Deep Inside Russia as War Expands Beyond the Front Lines
A major Ukrainian drone barrage targeting the Moscow region highlights the growing reach of the conflict, while Russian forces report continued battlefield gains in Donetsk.
The war in Ukraine is entering another increasingly dangerous phase as Kyiv expands its long-range drone campaign deep inside Russian territory, while Moscow continues reporting military advances along the eastern front.
The latest overnight assault reportedly involved hundreds of Ukrainian drones directed toward the Moscow region and surrounding areas. Russian authorities said air defenses intercepted large numbers of the incoming weapons, but fires and damage were nevertheless reported at several locations.
The scale of the attack underscores a reality that President Donald Trump and his supporters have repeatedly emphasized: the longer the Russia-Ukraine war continues, the greater the risk that the conflict will expand beyond the traditional battlefield.

Russian officials reported a large number of drones approaching the capital region, prompting air-defense systems to engage across multiple areas.
More than 200 drones were reportedly intercepted over the Moscow region, according to Russian authorities. Despite those efforts, falling debris and direct impacts caused fires and damage in several locations.
