Trump Returns to New York Soil We’re Taking New York Back in Passionate Rockland County Rally

May 23, 2026

Rockland County, New York — Former President Donald Trump made a pointed return to his home state Saturday, delivering a fiery 50-minute speech to a packed crowd in Rockland County. The event served as both a nostalgic homecoming and a clear battle cry ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Born and raised in New York, Trump struck a deeply personal tone, repeatedly saying the state he loves has been held back by years of what he called “bad policies, bad politicians, and foolish radical left idiocy.”

“I was born and raised in New York State and my heart has always been here,” Trump told the cheering audience. “We got to straighten it out. We got to get it back.”

Strong Praise for Local Republicans, Direct Challenge to Gov. Hochul

Trump used much of his time to boost key New York Republicans. He lavished praise on Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, calling him a landslide winner in traditionally Democratic territory, and Rep. Mike Lawler, whom he affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Salt” for his persistent fight to restore the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction.

“You got a race. Got a big race,” Trump said, turning his attention toward Governor Kathy Hochul, signaling that Republicans see real opportunities in suburban New York in 2026.

Analysis: Rockland and neighboring Nassau Counties have shown signs of shifting right in recent cycles. Trump’s heavy investment in these areas suggests the GOP believes suburban frustration over taxes, crime, and migration could translate into meaningful gains.
