Trump Announces First Republican Midterm Convention as Iran Negotiations Continue

President Donald Trump has announced plans for what he described as the first Republican convention dedicated specifically to a midterm election cycle, with the event scheduled for September 9–10 in Dallas, Texas.

In a social media announcement, Trump said the gathering will celebrate the party’s accomplishments while energizing supporters ahead of the November elections.

“It’s never been done before and will be a truly historic event,” Trump wrote, describing the convention as part of what he called a “great American comeback.”

The announcement comes as the administration continues to balance its domestic political agenda with ongoing diplomatic efforts related to Iran and broader Middle East security.

A New Approach to Midterm Campaigning

Unlike traditional national conventions held during presidential election years, the Dallas event is intended to focus on congressional races and Republican candidates across the country.

Political analysts say the convention could provide the party with a nationally televised platform to highlight its legislative priorities, economic agenda, and campaign strategy ahead of the midterm elections.

The president has continued to emphasize issues including manufacturing, trade, border security, and economic growth as central themes for the campaign.
